How Business Days Are Counted
This working days calculator counts Monday through Friday between two dates, inclusive of both endpoints, so a Monday-to-Friday range in the same week correctly returns 5, not 4. Weekends (Saturday and Sunday) are excluded automatically. If your "From" and "To" dates land on the same day, the result is 1 if that day is a weekday, or 0 if it's a weekend, since a single-day range still counts that one day.
Reading the Month-by-Month Breakdown
For any range spanning more than one calendar month, the right panel breaks the total down month by month: working days, total calendar days, and the percentage of that month that falls within your selected range and is a working day. The current month is highlighted, and a totals row at the bottom sums everything back to the same working-day count shown on the left, useful for sanity-checking that the month-level numbers add up.
Adding Working Days to a Date
The "Add working days" calculator answers a different, common question: not "how many business days are in this range" but "what date is N business days from now." Enter a number and it walks forward from your "From" date, skipping every Saturday and Sunday, landing on the exact calendar date N working days later, useful for calculating shipping estimates, response-time deadlines, or project due dates.
Honest Limitation: No Public Holiday Awareness
This calculator excludes weekends only; it does not know about public holidays, since holiday calendars vary by country, region, and even individual company policy. A range that includes a holiday will be counted as though that day were a normal weekday. If you need holiday-accurate results for a specific country or organization, treat this number as a starting point and subtract known holidays manually.
Quick Presets Explained
The preset buttons (This week, Next 2 weeks, This month, This quarter, This year) fill in both dates for a common range in one click, useful for quickly checking things like how many working days are left in the current quarter without looking up exact calendar dates. Use it to count working days or weekdays between two dates as a business days calculator, a work days calculator and business day counter, an exclude weekends calculator, or to add working days to a date and see working days per month in the breakdown panel.
